Google Knowledge Graph

What is a Knowledge Graph?

First, it's a programming thing.  So please be patient with our explanation.  The web is maturing, and with that maturing there is an opportunity to change how we connect things.  Instead of saying we are looking at a keyword, and searching on words.  Search engines are now assuming we are looking at SOMETHING, a person, place, thing or researching a concept.  They will then give us a broader search result based on the attributes - the schema.  This, in our experience, is where the Schema.org website comes in.

Schema.org?  What is it?

Schema.org is an initiative launched on 2 June 2011 by Bing, Google and Yahoo! (operators of the world's largest search engines at that time)to create and support a common set of schemas for structured data markup on web pages. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schema.org)  Keep in mind that the search engine giants have a hard time working together - but they took the time to set this up.  That should tell you this is very important.

The Gap

Developing Wings does not maintain websites for businesses anymore, but we do offer recommendations.  This - schema -  and how it is implemented is what will separate the different levels of business.  Those who take the time to learn and implement schema practices will rank higher in searches.  They will be the top contenders at decision making time.
